Next weekend I'm off into the country to look over my new toy. While I'm there I'll give it a go at starting up after sitting in a shed for around 10 years.
I'll take down a new battery, fresh fuel (+ valve saver), new oil, fuel and oil filters.
What do I have to look out for?
I've heard to drop a little oil down the spark plug holes & turn the motor over by hand a few times before even trying to crank it.
It's an old ford 302 that was in very good condition before being put away, so I'm hoping not to have too many difficulties.
Expecting a to need to replace a few rubber hoses, and that the carby is probably blocked
I'm not too worried about brakes/coolant etc, they can all wait til I pick it up. It'd just be nice to get running asap, and being so far from anything I want to be prepared when I head out there.

take sandpaper or a points file to clean points if it starts with fuel down the carby but stops due to blocked jets do the same again and slap your hand over the carby normally sucks the shit out .if picked up cars off farms that have sat outside for years and they allways go

I reckon the fuel will be pretty ratshit anyway, if there's even any in there. Its a 4sp manual, with a fairly new (in k's not years) heavy duty clutch if i remember right
I'm not really up to speed on carby motors, so any tips like this help.
If I can get it running this time and find the major problems with it, the next time I go down I will hopefully be able to get enough done that I can bring it back home
