Default Peoples opinion on exterior visuals

    Hey all,

I've got a VY II SS Ute, in impulse blue.

Its bog stock at the moment, but wanting to make it a little bit out of the ordinary and eye catching. Strapped for cash at the moment, but wanting ideas as to what you guys would do. I don't want to go all out on this car, just want it to stand out a little.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

    Cheers guys

Take all the badges off, except the front and rear centre badges.

If they don't know whats under the hood... and it looks nice... people think it's a V8?

haha then its gonna look like a shitty V6 ute :P haha.

I would only take the SS badges off if i made it look really nice, otherwise people will think its a shitty six, and i don't really want that haha.

Because they sound the same and all :P.

Best thing you could do is a custom paint job. Other then that don't go to over board, with aesthetics less is most definitely more.

Nice and clean is the best it will ever look IMO.

It doesn't really have to be a total respray.
Get some stripes painted on it. But try something different. Sandman stripes?

Do go putting spastic badges or mesh grills and the like, That will ruin.

Run it into a tree and then drive it around like that. Nothing like freeform body mods for that touch of individuality. Cheap too!

Cut springs, flutes in bonnet with angle grinder, while the grinder is out make a sunroof.

Umm seriously apart from a kit or paint or rims I cant think of much for the exterior. As above debadged is nice, even if it is a SS it depends if you think it looks good with or without, no one will mistake it for a V6 unless they are retarded. Resale wise untouched will get more cash back when/if you ever sell.

Sorry not much help but limited options to what can be done without looking silly.

    Chrome Statesman/Caprice outside door handles.

Paint the black strips on the roof.

BTW... Personally I don't mind Chev badges

Hey Mate, You could consider painting your brake calipers I did mine the other day (and if I can do it you can) and it looks great. All you need is some VHT Brake Caliper Paint from Repco, a wire brush, some degreaser/wheel cleaner, tap water, newspaper and tape... and a few hours. It really makes a simple/clean addition under $20. Hope this helps a bit any questions let me know.

as said, de badge it. looks so much neater.

get it detailed. im talking a full paint correction to remove paint defects. then learn how to wash it properly to minimise wash induced swirls. expect it to cost around $600+ but its definetly worth it. after this keep the car spotless. that stands out in the crowd, even when in a stocker.

after that wheels and lowered, hard cover

rat rod it, would be sweet to see one done that way. however I know it's not most people's thing

maybe if the paint is really good condition, get it two toned (cheaper than full spray) or just debadge it and maybe custom grille would work?
haven't been working for over 10 months and I HATE IT. If you know of any positions, let me know please, I'm willing to travel/move if necessary. I just want to be working again!!!
