i was having a whine the other day about having to pay $1.68 per litre for 98 fuel for the SS. One of the guys i was whining to reckons he used to... and "used to" being the operative phrase here, that he used to put normal 91 ULP and stick a cup and a half of diesel in the tank claiming that the primary ingredient in octane boost is pretty much distillate anyhow..... he said it worked just as good as running PULP in it.
I have never heard of diesel being used as octane boost before, would be handy is was true!! would save me $15 on every tank of fuel.
Anybody heard of this being done before?? call me a sceptic, but i think it sounds a bit sus!!

- OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear.
- HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
- TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.
For one thing, distillate is nothing more than heating oil with colour added so why would it need a very high RON. Running a cup and a half of distillate in a petrol engine long term will kill it.
Diesel has a RON of 25, so in short, your mate is full of shit.
The sad thing is that some people will read your post and actually try it.....
Some loco drivers put a litre of petrol in a trains' diesel tank once, did a powerskid from Adelaide to Perth.
True story
I heard that when they converted steam trains to run on oil, they actually used 50% orange juice for the extra energy
I heard that when they first brought out the electric train that they forgot to attach the diesel tank to the underside , causing all sorts of dilemma at the refueling station .
I was told years ago that A couple of caps of 2 stroke oil is a good lead replacement and boost octane ,but it would be probally better to use moth balls at least thats been proven to some extent

i know guys who put 2 litres of ULP into a tank of diesel and claim much better torque and better economy....... i drive a T/D for work, a 3.0 T/D hilux.... goes like a cut snake! i wouldn't put ULP in it though.... just because i hear something, doesn't mean i do it.

Considering adding oil to fuel lowers the octane, I dare say 2 stroke oil will do the same thing.

I have to agree. 50% of the content these days is piss taking. I've found that if I want info a certain forum about LS1's is a much better alternative.
there is more to fuel than just distilled oil. to get a proper high octane out of lower octane you need to get some additives out and put some different ones in (i dont know their fancy names). rather than wasting your time with all that crap, send your money to this guy and get TRUE high octane fuel:
