Live Axle Conversion
Iv tried to find info about this night after night but cant find anything.
Regarding VU's & VX's...
Has anyone converted or know of any info about replacing the independent rear end with a live axle ?
(aka solid axle)
Why would you wanna do that?
Isn't IRS better than live axle??
Live axle.... better for towing, better for heavier loads, better for power skids
Sell the car and buy one with a live axle? Would be cheaper.

towed plenty of things with an IRS setup. Including 8 tonnes of rolled steel. Two cars and a 4 tonne 12ft auger. No issues at all.

Wouldn't be easy and really only something that should be done if you want a mega HP drag car.

Extensive floorpan mods, clear the tailshaft even with a 2 piece.
Would certainly be different, but if you're going to that extent, go a ladder bar or triangulated 4 link with a box clip.
