My car is fitted with lowered Kings and Monroes on 19's. They were on the car when I bought it and definately would not have been my choice but I left them alone. I had Bilsteins and Lovells on my previous car and they were nothing short of awesome.
Anyway my question is. Is it normal for the rear end to want to step out when you hit a bump in the road when your doing say 100kph? Usually an uneven bump, say more on one side. In the wet it's #$%@ing dangerous as I found out for the first time going to the Gold Coast with the family and a full boot of gear. Obviously it will bounce up and down but it felt like the rear was swaying slightly as well.
Is this something that can be fixed by tossing out the suspension and replacing it with something of quality or is it just a VE problem?
Cheers
Hmmm. I guess it's a problem that everyone has and just doesn't talk about.
Yeah - both my VE's did it when the shocks went off a bit. The problem is exasperated by poor wheel alignment. Comparing Bilsteins for Monroe is well - you know the answer to that one. I do have a pair of bilstein rear shocks off a VE that have done less than 500km if you are interested. $450+ postage for the pair. I was going to fit them to my VE but changed the car instead.

I've spoken to two other people now (1 with GTS & 1 with SS) and both said they felt the rear suspension do the same thing. One said it felt like the rear tyres were tram lining and the other said it felt like pressures were low. I can only guess that when people here talk about VEs having crap suspension, this is a part of what they're talking about. Certainly not what I expected after all Holden's development.
