I recently forked out the cash to rebuild my engine due to a dodgy Adelaide HSV/FPV performance workshop, whom charge through the roof with their television advertising etc. Anyway I'm now making around 310rwkw and 670nm of torque and my Automatic transmission is dying.
I'm seriously thinking about converting to a manual rather than getting a beefier auto transmission like a Turbo 350 or 400. I previously had a VY Clubsport with a 6 speed manual and loved it! So I'm keen to go the whole length and convert to a 6 speed manual.
I need to figure out if the T56 TREMEC gear box will handle the torque output and what parts i need and instructions to perform the conversion. I was also looking at the 6060 TREMEC 6 speed manual which comes on the W427 and the new Corvettes, but is a little out of my price range even for a reconditioned one. (I can pick up a brand new T56 for $2000, where a reconditioned 6060 will set me back atleast $3000)
Any help?
T56 will hold up to a fair bit of power, plenty of people running big cam/head combo's/superchargers/twin turbo's through the t56
What exactly was done in the rebuild?
I've searched other threads and people seem to put a fair bit of power through the T56.
I had the heads CNC ported, forged flat top pistons, a 600 lift cam, roller rockers, ported exhaust, block was blueprinted and balanced.
Also have a 3000 stall converter.
What parts are needed for the manual conversion of a VZ 6.0L?
Are there any threads that outline the steps?
