I'm not one who does it, but I have many friends who own anything from VK's to VX's and a good hand-ful of them do it, (especially if they have an aftermarket sound).
What I'm referring to is the typical, tapping of the foot on the accelerator before, during and just after starting the car, as so you get the initial (Please Excuse in advance):
tik-tik-tik-VOOMVROOOOMMMmm-Idle-idle-idle.
Many of them disagree its bad for the car,
but the few times I've done it in mine just to test the theory 'it makes no difference',
however, in all honesty, I dont think my engine likes those excessive high revs on start.
I may be wrong, what are you opinions?

my car doesnt start without a few pumps of the throttle. the carby dries out and needs the squirter to put a bit down the throat.
edit* WTFvideo??
Carby cars might need it, especially if the carb is stuffed. No need what so ever to do it with an EFI car.
Reaper
Only time I have ever done it is with my Subie which has a webber carb with no choke, I have to give it a little bit to keep her from stalling on cold mornings but never over 1500RPM, I have seen engines killed going from cold start to 4000RPM
Shouldn't have to do it at all with an EFI car. Carbied cars are different though, think of it like priming your lawnmower before you start it.
Cheers guys I thought that was right, like I said, not one who does it, and that will continue to be the way, I just wanted some confirmation on here where people actually KNOW their stuff, instead of giving me crap like "it's a commodore, it can handle high revs on start, or on end, its a ####ing commodore... it deals with it!"
Peace of mind, appreicated.
Thanks all.
P.S - The video would therefore entail I dont do it, as I clearly haven't got the technique down pat that well hahaha
