Dash Instruments
Look I honestly dont know what to search for but I'm wondering what the limitations are for putting a new dash in my VR. What cars dashes can I use? Only commodores or any specific commodores? I know theres level 1, 2 and 3 dashes but thats about all I've heard of. I've tried searching but I don't exactly know how to put it. Sorry if im missing something obvious but any help would be amazing!
You can use 1, 2 or 3, but each will need their own wiring loom, there's a guy on eBay that does custom dash faces if that's what you're after.

Well yes, i suppose thats what I want. But can you, say, have a different shaped speedometer? Or is that simple not possible?
I've heard of a VT/VX dash conversion into a VS, but that would be done with a lot of cutting and trimming to make it fit, other than that I haven't heard of anything else.
Is it impossible to put one in from another car all together? For example, an XR6. Just an example, ford suck. I understand it would require a lot of wiring and im sure you would need to cut or customize the dash itself?

Not looking to do anything in particular. Realised I've never put much thought into how far you could go into the customization..
XR6 or any other kind of dash will fit into any commodore. You just need a harness adaptor for the fuse box and a left handed 9.3mm allen key for the mount points on the A pillars. Oh.. and a chainsaw..
I've seen Camry dashes in WB Panelvans, anything can be done if you really want it to. In this modern age with airbags and crumple zones though, to do anything like that would cost a mint.
Unless you have a crapload of cash to spare, and you dont need the car for a few months, then you are best just getting a level 3 dash and loom.
On that subject, I wonder why I havent seen any LED touchscreen dashes for various popular models popping up from china yet? Seems like the next logical step.. totally customisable dash instruments, location, size, shape, colour etc Look out people the Altezza dash is on its way
Haha cheers for your help guys. Also, I only ever see people talking about altezza tail lights and never head lights. Whys this? Do they fit cause I don't think they look that bad! (Should i say that) :S
Many people don't like the tail lights, the headlights don't look any different though, they probably are more reflective or some crap..

got altezzas in my vr...totally diff to standard,much better.clear lens with all the prisms molded into the reflector. run 100 watt mains with 90 watt blue bulbs for brilliant white (5000k)
