At the moment I'm deciding what to buy for a diff center, I do not want a limited slip because it's not an even tire spin. I wanted something like the V8 supercars diff center that's able to power through corners, but I've done some research and they have a full spool which to my awareness is a posi or locker diff which is notwhat I want for a street/strip setup due to how unsafe it is through corners.
Are full spool and locker diffs different?
Also I tried to find some research on the VE GTS diff center and could find none... what do they have?
Thank-you. Hoping to buy after chrissy also.
yeah V8 Supercars have a spooled diff, so it's completely locked.
No good on the street, not to mention illegal.
probably the best street legal diff is this one
I know a guy with a VE who has one. He does a lot of track work, skidpans, motorkhanas etc. He's very happy with it

as above, yes there are an LSD, not a cone type like fitted stock to commodores, but geared.
got one in my VS, open as anything going around corners etc, but if you accelerate, it locks up tight as ever.
So it would be better just to have a brand new strong VE LSD so you can power through corners without locking up?
both a conventional LSD and trutrac will lock if you power hard out of a corner. However, if you are just driving normal through a corner it will just operate like a normal diff.
Main difference between a trutrac and conventional LSD, is the amount of slippage when launching off the line. A conventional LSD will still tend to spin one wheel faster than the other, whereas the trutrac does a far better job at maintaining equal wheel speeds. And it's a lot stronger diff too.
Ah I see, so you just have to learn how the car responds to learn how you can power out of a corner hopefully not going into a drift.
have you driven a LSD before ?
If not, yeah they are a bit of a learning curve if you punch the throttle out of a corner. But I actually find them more controllable due to their predictability. Open centres tend to fishtail. Main thing to remember is if the back end does hang out on a corner, keep the power on and/or ease off slowly - if you panic and let off the throttle abruptly that's when the back end tends to swing back the other way and all sorts of trouble starts
Limited slip diffs are good, I wouldn't go back to open centre. And the trutrac is probably the best LSD available for the street
