Im looking at fitting a VT 4L60E that i knows in good working condition into my VS that had a bad auto (fluid was black and smelt very burnt, car revved to about 3000rpm and barely moved, there was virtually no fluid pressure coming out when i disconnected the cooler line and started and reved the car, and the pan was full of ALOT of silvery/black shit and even large solid chunks of clutch material).
I know it would be cheaper and easier to get a VS auto but im the kind of person who is willing to spend a bit of time to muck around with this kind of thing.
I already know ive gotta modify the exhaust or clearance the bellhousing, remove the large lugs from the top of the extension housing, and possibly extend the VSS wiring plug to reach.
I need to know:
* Can i use the VT rear mount (Only have the VS one at the moment and it looks like its going to sit wrong when bolted to the VT extension housing), or do i have to modify the VS one
* Can i use the VT shifter linkage (VT box has the shift rod out about an extra inch towards the outside of the car because VT has the neutral safety switch on the box, and the VS rod will be on a funny angle), or do i have to modify the VS one.
* Biggest question ive got, Can i use the VT torque converter? Will it work with the VS S2 electrics? My VS one is no doubt cooked and if i can use the vt one it saves me getting another
Thanks in advance
I'm pretty sure VT &VS bell housings are different. Not a 100% though.
