I am considering cutting an opening in my VZ factory hard lid for my dog.
Am I mad?
Has anyone here cut an opening in one?
thinking I could get a canvas lid made to clip on when not in use.
would need some kind of trim around it. may just a length of pinchweld.
Its just getting too hard to keep the front clean. we go to the beach most weekends.
I like the hard lid so dont want to take it off.

Why not just take the hard lid off?

Take the lid off. Or if you are dead set on keeping it on there, try and find another one to cut so you still have yours to refit when it comes time to sell the car.

2 person lift has it off in about 30 seconds.

I dont see any issue cutting it, just get some rubber seal to go around the edge to keep it waterproof when not being used.. and maybe make the cut out into a flip lid with hinges..

Sell hardlid - buy a canopy second hand and paint it to match your car.

Dunno where I saw it, but I have seen hard lid with roughly 400x400 dog hole.... I was on one side, and removable, and latched back into place when not required... I guess sealing would be the worst bit... A good fiberglasser will be your best bet....
