Hey people, i just recently purchase a whole brand new set of brakes off a VZ clubbie, never been used. My first question is would i of been better buying the PBR set without the rear ventilated? to save a few bucks.
Secondly how much would you guys pay for a brand new set of brakes of a VZ clubbie?
Third question, the disc size at the front are 330mm, are the 343mm make any difference?

Also one more question, how much would i get for my old brakes when i sell them, there just of a standard VT clubsport.
Sounds like a good buy mate. ive seen clubby brakes go for anything up to $2500 to $3000.
330's will pull you up pretty quick I would only go 343's if you do any track work.
And lastly, how much do you want for them?![]()
Not sure, i don't think they are worth much, the brakes have done 60k but i think the postage will be the killer..
Anyway there still on the car at the moment, havent had time to change em over cause of the rain.
I bought the pbr kit for my vn cost me $1100 all up (Front only)Then looked at Hopper Stopers they wanted close to $2500 for the lot. So they could be pretty close to that value if not more.
well guys after ripping off my old brakes i realized theres no difference between my calipers and the HSV upgrade calipers, the only difference is the disc size at the front which is only 30mm in dia difference and the rears which is 30mm different in dia plus the rears are ventilated. After much thought and consideration I'm thinking of not doing the upgrade now, due to the cost weights out the benefits...If you guys think differently please give me your opinion. I 'm thinking of selling the brakes and maybe using the money for something better.
Are you able to post a pick up of the front hsv caliper. You say that there is no difference in the front VZ caliper to your VT caliper. I would like to see how they get the additional 30mm clearance. Cheers.

All they use is a dog leg like bracket arm that bolts onto the caliper.
Heres a pic of what it looks like....
They look like they are C5 calipers, same calipers used on C5 corvettes, so they are a little different. From memory i believe that the pistons are slightly larger as well. There would be a difference in disc pad friction surface area.
What you have is the same as what the PBR PK1 kit is.
It's up to you what you do with them, I would install them if I could justify the price tag. If you decided to sell them, just install DB1344 disc pads in the front calipers you currently have as an upgrade.
I've taken a pic to show the difference between standard commodore DB1331 and DB1344, sames disc pad but with more surface area.

Cool, thanks for that Jezz, you were exactly right bout the disc pad sizes..If i do go ahead and install em, any tips on what to do and what not to do?
Just to clarify, the DB1344 disc pads fit the stock standard calipers and can be used instead of the DB1331 as a performance upgrade. The C5 calipers use a different pad DB7599 looks simular but is different.
I would suggest downloading a 10 page PDF fitting instructions from PBR for their PK1. Easy to understand and it should be identical to what you want to do. Click the link to downloadOriginally Posted by GROWLZ

Well i spoke to the guy who took em off the VZ and he says they are Corvette C6 calipers and today when i removed my old ones i measured both sets of pistons, both are 40mm in dia...anyway tomorrow I'm fitting the rears and ill let you guys know how everything goes..
Well its all done both front and rear brakes are on the carNow to bed them in,,,time for a test drive...

Glad to hear they all went on with out a hitch. Did the instructions help you?
You may be right, they went to C6 with the VZ and the PBR PK1 uses C5 calipers. I was under the impression the C6 corvette went to a 4 piston front caliper setup, but I'm probly be wrong.Originally Posted by GROWLZ
I did check this out and you are right the C5 and B862-027/028 Commodore caliper have the same piston diameter. The difference being that the mounting holes are different, additional heat sinks, and they take a larger pad with more friction surface area then the 1344's.Originally Posted by GROWLZ
It's the C4 calipers have 38mm piston and C5 40mm.

Yes, the instructions helped alot with the fronts, rears where a breeze...Not sure weather to keep the old brakes or to just sell em....How much would i get for em?
There would be a few people with VR VS commodores that would like to have them. I wouldn't think that you would get much for them.
VT BRAKE UP-GRADE KIT FOR (VR-VS)
new they are $410+gst with hoses and adapter rings
do you know the disc diameter?
