diesel spins at only half the revs due to a longer stroke so the turbo's won't be interchangeable say from a 4L diesel to 4L petrol.

with the petrol spinning faster means more flow so a diesel turbo on a petrol would be to small.

i hope thats the angle you were chasing

I'll contradict ya there lowvp petrol diesel turbos are the same......

if your thinking of mix and matching you would have to watch the air ratios
the same you would with any turbo fitment......

there is a diffence between a 4l diesel and 4l petrol
a diesel turbo would be suited to boost low in the revvs and reach peak boost at around 3500rpm
as where a petrol would boost around 2000rpm and should peak around 4500rpm...... assuming they are std.......

feel free to correct me if yous like

I'm with you lxhatch, a turbo is a turbo. With a turbo size matters. The bigger the turbo the more it produces. Too big and it won't work. A turbo on a diesel works differently than on a petrol. A diesel doesn't rev as high so it's boost is lower in the rev range where as on a petrol it revs higher so it has a larger boost range. As long as the turbo has a decent cfm rating for your engine size you can put a diesel turbo on a petrol car.

On the blower side of the turbo should be a cfm rating, if not at least a part number and brand. Google that and you should be able to find a cfm rating at a maximum boost. I think anything over 300 cfm at 12-14 psi should be ok. One thing to do would be to thoroughly clean all the diesel oil out of it before fitting it to the VN.

a jackaroo turbo would probably be the same size turbo as my rodeo. and that is way too small. you woul restrict the motor too much.
tell ya mate to go buy a cheap t4 and a wastegate or a chinese t3/t4.
just look aorund for a while. he might pick something up cheap

how big are land cruiser motors??? are they 4L's???? cos i bought a ct26 turbo off a landcruiser. it was a really good sized turbo. they also come out on GT4 celica's and i reckon would be good on a 3.8 they are about the same size as a t3/t4. i was going to use it but it had a flange that was too different. so i didn't bother..

well the bloke said it was off a diesel. his mate imprted engines and stripped them and reco'ed them but didn't want the bolt ons. so this fella got them all.
anyhoo. a jackaroo/rodeo turbo would be lucky to be good enough for a gokart. i was looking at one at a swap meet today and they are smaller than an n12 1.5L turbo.. so even twins would be very average,,
