Question ecotec to ls1 swap, what problems will i have?

hopefully someone can help me out here,

my vy acclaim is a v6 auto and im toying with the idea of putting in an ls1 with 6 sp manual.

i know whats involved in changing from auto to manual but im not sure about the engine.

if i rip the ecotec and auto out, put in the v8 k frame, change the wiring loom, will the ls1 then bolt straight in?

what else do i need to change? obviously the exhaust, springs, radiator? anything i havn't thought of?

whats the go when changing the computer to the v8 one? will the car still start or will there be issues with the security coding and will holden need to program the new ecu to work together with the bcm and other stuff in the car?

if i got an ls1 out of a vt series 2 or a vx would the computer and loom work in the vy?

i know someone is probably going to tell me that i should sell my car and buy a v8 but i have a particular attachment to this car and dont really want to part with it.

lastly, how much do you think labour would cost to change all of this? ive never removed an engine or gearbox before but if its going to cost a ridiculous amount to have someone else do it i reckon i may be able to struggle through on my own.

    cheers,

    matt.

Well... your gonna be spending up big....

1st - Fuel System, gonna hevto get a bigger tank and 2 pumps.
2nd - Brakes, Bigger....much bigger. (discs, calipers and MC)
3rd - loom and computer, out with the ecotec stuff and an LS1 loom + computer
    4th - Kframe
    5th - Suspension (v8 is heavier)
    6th - Cluster (instrument)
    7th - Exhaust
    8th - Cooling
9th - Your diff will most likely go on ya Ecotec VS. 5.7ltr 6spd...
10 - tail shaft may not fit....

Its do-able but costly, spesh if you cant do it yourself!

im thinking the best way is to buy a wrecked ss or something and transplant everything.

i should be able to pick up a stacked vt series 2 ss at auction for around the 6 grand mark. after i sell off any leftover parts from the stacked car, plus the little bit my ecotec and auto trans is worth should make it cheaper then the 5 grand i was going to spend on supercharging my v6.

but... will the loom and computer from a vt work in a vy?

Just take all the things you like about the car you have now off it, sell it, and refit them to an SS.
