may i suggest the LINK electrosystems engine management setup. got everything you'll need. fully tunable and reasonably priced.

i have a slightly older version on my VH V8 but it's very tunable

i have a wolf 3d in my turbo pulsar and don't have any troubles.. but a LOT of people do not like them. if i was to buy a new aftermarket computer i don't know if i would buy one. a lot of people like microtech's. do a bit of research.
i know that the wold 3d's are very easy to use. and the newer ones are a little more tuneable that the version 3's like i have.
do you want the wolf 3d for your VP or for something else. i reckon for a while they were selling computers that plugged straight in so ya didn't need to change any wiring. but i am not sure if they still have them. i reckon they do for VL's..
i have heard apexi's are great for nissans but nothing else. but i don't know why???
is your car turboed or supercharged. what is your reason for wanting an aftermarket computer

yeah i'm sorta in the same boat. turboed v6, i was thinking of using kalmaker as its a replacement for stock ecu but the trouble is what is easiest / friendliest to tune

wolf 3d v4 are meant to be good ems and are rated highly by zoom magazine (those guys know their ****) they also plug into a laptop for realtime tuning and have a hand controller with programable settings. retails is about $1000 . I'm thinking about ones of these when i put a sc14 on my VH

not sure if the V4 is sold anymore. i think it is only wolf v500. http://wolfems.cart.net.au/cat/3754.html

it looks like they don't even sell hand controllers anymore. just the screen you mount on your dash.
they have kits to adapt to many different wiring looms including vn - vs commodores. and the kit will cost you $1995 but doesn't come with the dash mounted screen. i am not sure if you can even stune it with the dash mounted screen..
anyways. now ya can have a good look for yourself seeing you have the web site

the LINK system uses a USB cable that plugs directly into the ecu. the software is free. you can download a copy from there web site to have a play with so you can see what it can do etc. there is actually nothing wrong with the factory delco ecu. if you ask people like Dr bob and greenfoam you can get a lot of info on tuning them. paradox knows a bit about 2 bar map tunes for a turbo setup although he seems to be keeping some of the info close to his chest at the moment. i'd certainly take carefull consideration before replacing the factory ecu when you could possibly spend money else where on your ride

I wouldnt see the point in buying aftermarket computer unless you had a worked motor or supercharger/turbo setup

i did suggest that in my post above, the reason i have a LINK is cause the VH never had a delco ecu.......
