ok well i managed to fix all but the light that stays on i just had had to adjst the thing that pulls the butterfly open. in the book it says the light means that their is a fault in the electronic engine managment??? i dont know that much about these things and all i did was change the throttle body over so i dont kno why this light is suddenly apearing any help at all would be greatly apreciated!!!!

Have a search on this forum for retrieving trouble codes & post back your results. It is more than likely something to do with your throttle position sensor voltage.

had a look around and i cant seem to find too much on it but some people say it doesnt matter too much only problem is that when something else is wrong i wont know about it i tried both the stock electric bits that plug in again aswell as the ones that came with the new throttle body but still the light stays there. also when i had to tighten the things that pull on the butterfly the bolt bit that u seem to tighten it with snapped! im gna go try an buy another one now

Did you disconnect the battery to reset the computer? I am sure you will need to do this to turn the light off.

Since it was fine before you changed throttle bodies I reckon it could be one of two things. Either the TPS is stuffed, or someone has messed with the idle set screw which will change the voltage output at idle.
First I would replace the TPS with the one off your old throttle body, reset the computer & see if that fixes it. Otherwise you will need to get hold of a manual & go through the steps in there. I dont have a VS manual so I cant help in that regard.
PS Do not mess with the idle screw unless you have the correct procedure for doing this. All sorts of drivability issues can be caused by setting one incorrectly.

well i dont think that both the tps's could be stuffed it doesnt seem likely soim guessing its the idle screw. il try the old one again since it worked like you said and leave that in but im guesing the problem is to do with the idle screw. is the idle screw the thing that tightens loosens the accelerator cable? because i left that when i first started the car an its acceleration didnt start right away when i put my foot down (the fault light was there then) so i tightened it now that seems to be a bit better and the light still there. maybe i shouldnt mess with things i dont completely understand lol

ok all is now good!!! lol i found a bit in another forum after lots and lots of digging with a similar problem. where thetps plugs into there is a sleeve that goes over a little metal bit of the throttle body under where the tps plugs into an there was no sleeve on my new one but one on the old one so i put the sleeve from the old one on an it works great now even the gear shifts are fine thanks heaps for your help!!

I had this problem when installing a V8TB onto my VN V6 and its the TPS, i gt a brand new one and it still came up with the engine light, with the TPS undo the 2 bolts and leave them out so you can more the sensor around now get some1 into the car to turn it on and turn the sensor around slowly untill the other person tells you to stop, then make sure you put it into drive WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, and make sure the light stays off then mark it take the sensor and TB off and modifythe sensor drill a hole putthe bolt it will hold it bit of super glue lol, and it should be good, the reason why you put it in Drive or a gear is because it might idle without the light on but when you put it into gear it comes back on, so good luck it helped me with mine and it still works no coughing of the motor or rocking from side to side have a play with it
