    Default Removing engine cover?

Hi all, did a quick search and couldn't come up with anything directly.

I was told the other day that if you take the plastic engine cover off it can give you a bit more power as it helps the engine remain cooler, a few blokes at work have done it and seem to think it helped but not sure if i want to as my cars still under warranty and not sure if that'd affect it at all.

    Cheers, Ryan.

engine cover is only held on by 4 bolts or so, wont affect warrenty at all.... wont give u any power at all just make it cooler but more air flow, engine covers just attract more heat...

Cheers, thought they were dreaming a bit when they said they gained 5kw.
The heat thing makes sense though.

Engine covers I've seen just clip on. He's asking about a VZ remember...

Also I fail to see how ANY engine cover can ATTRACT heat. There are plusses and minus' for leaving them on and for taking them off.

What are the plusses for taking it off? As i'm keen to leave it on for looks more so but if the plusses add up i'd be inclined to remove it.

benefits of leaving them on, visual / saves cleaning the engine and apparantly they "reduce" engine noises
