Question vn 304 v8 conversion... which path to take.

hey every1

looking at doin a v8 conversion in the coming months but im unsure what is the best method. been having a word to all parts and panels they say 5grand walk in and out for the complete conversion. or the other option i see is buy a cheap 5litre vn, strip it, running gear and swap over and get my mechanic to do the change over which is 1grand in labour. this way i recoup money by selling off car parts.

what is the best option to go with?

Cheers

I would 100% say buy a cheap VN 5ltr, and do a parts swap, and sell off parts off the donor vn and ur old motor etc.
Works out cheaper that way.
But i would suggest getting some work done to the motor while it is out!
And with the 5 grand option, is it just a stock motor, with however many k's, or is it rebuild or anything?

Will the conversion joint give you a warrenty?

issue with buying a wrecked 5ltr is that you got no idea of history with engine.. unless you can still drive it!

Honestly, buy the stroked engine off here and then wait to recoupe some costs then pay the 1000 to have it put in + some suspension gear. In reality, for like 8k you could have a seriously worked v8 with a rebuilt auto...

aZk.

dont have 8k im just gonna scrap enough to get 5k. the conversion place give 3month guarentee and they only buy engines under 150,000kms so that is a plus i guess. i have time to look around for a cheap 5ltr but i seriously doubt ill find one thats all.

so yea the 5k option is a stock 5lt engine, which is fine for the time being i kinda just wanna get the engine bay sprayed and get rid of the tired 6 then worry bout perfomance mods eg cam lata down the track

honestly, i would just go out and buy one that is a V8 already and drive that. u can pick them up cheap as chips these days. if u have done up the rest of your car and u want to keep it, then thats understandable. then i would just buy another wrecked v8 model and use the runnign gear out of it
