car is sitting like 1cm lower than the old springs, except the kingsprings are softer than the old standard ones

whats the point in getting lower shocks, when the springs are captive with standard shocks anyway!?!?

    did I miss something here?!?!?!

I also visited a "suspension specialist" today with the aim of getting new strut mounts fitted. The urethane ones on my VN 5 litre are starting to stretch and crack. 2 hours later when I returned I was quoted $2600 for a 2 page list of thing that "failed" and "urgently" needed replacing including the steering rack, front and rear shocks, wheel bearings, rear uni joints and about 20 other things needed replacing. They told me they wouldn't replace the strut mounts unless they replaced everything else in the quote. When I said no way he charged me $14 for a so called safety check. Stay away from this national "suspension expert" chain if you must go always get a second opinion. I knew he was talking bull**** when he started describing a reconditioned steering rack a having "increased tolerances" over factory specs, my front shocks going through the bonnet if I didn't replace the mounts "urgently" and my front shocks as "failed" when I know they are basically brand new Monroe GT items because I installed them myself only months ago.

Seems funny how everyone seems to have a story along the same lines with this mob. So did you tell them the shocks were brand new?
