Default manual gearbox

hey, i have a 5 speed and when i go to change gears fast it doesnt let me... its like i have to give the gearbox a few seconds before the gear will go in. so i want to know whats wrong with it and how do i fix it so it doesnt take a few seconds each time to change gears and so the gears can go in smoothly?

Could be the Synchros are stuffed??

Like, as you could imagine when you use the gear shifter all it does is moves the shift rails and forks.

On the forks are the synchro hubs and of course inside them are the synchro rings.

I'm wondering if the rings are worn?

But I'm just guessing

Many of the forum members helped me when I had problems with my 5 speed manual.

In particularly "Mag" and "Stewart1000".

"Mag" diagnosed the problem straight away and was absolutely correct.

"Stewart1000" was rebuilding his MF5 5 speed at the same time and helped out with supplying pictures etc.

The forum has a lot of info on gearbox rebuilds so if you need more advice just yell-out as some of the more experienced guys may assist.

Cheers

Get a reco box from the guy in sydney (sells v8 ones for $950 + $75 del) on ebay and sell yours on ebay. Will be *the* cheapest way out. Just advertise it as needing reco unless you want some really ****ed off phone calls and you will be suprised what you will get for the old one.
