IPHONE APP For car nuts
I came across this today, I am sure there would be someone out there with IPHONE 3G who could use this little piece of work when it is released
Enjoy

That is the thought in my mind too, apparently the accelerometer in the phone is high quality item, so if that is true then it should be able to make a measurement. I have heard some game players are not getting the response needed from the accelerometer ......... this could translate into not quite spot on measurements maybe.
I dunno but this is ultra cool and will go somewhere eventually I reckon, will be mad popular

Also N95 will be able to do it, along with HTC & some other handsets, a number of them coming out now with accelerometers

NORTI
Which of those has an accelerometer and could do it right now? What options?
Will they run this same APP or would it be a new APP to suit those other phones?

I havent had a chance to look at what platform the app runs on. I have a N95 & have a few programs that use the accelerometer on it now.
I know there was a thread about turning the N95 into a G-tech, so I know there is some stuff around for Symbian OS based phones already, probably more than whats around for the iPhone.

You got any screen dumps of them in action?
If the IPHONE dudes get one good APP that should do I reckon.

lol my programs are magic ball & light sabre
lols nothing remotely helpful
But there are 4X4 applications for tilt etc, & stepmeters for walkers/joggers, & a few people talking about making free dyno/gtech apps for the nokias, So Im just waiting for them to come out. (I think there is some available now that cost, but Im not sure if they work well or not)
Youtube has plenty of people with N95's showing off accelerometer apps, try having a look there.

tempes GTx is designed for the n95 and uses the internal gps to measure acceleration, top speed etc etc... you can get the demo at Tempes GT that enables you to check that it works correctly, it's fairly sensitive in the fact you can make it register movement by passing it from one hand to another. theres another thread on here somewhere about it.
but that iphone app looks pretty cool!
norti you should get rotateMe, very very handy

Why would you bother with this program? I'm confused.

iphones dont do lots things
they got really bad reception
a few places now have them on hold because 3 out or 5 come back
use 1 for a week youll see what i mean
i know a few ppl with them and they hate them already
as for the program it shows you 1/4 mile times speeds and stuff
