in console fridge/cooler
just had a random thought then, wouldnt it be cool if the storage box thing in the console(between the 2 front seats) in my vy berlina was cooled, like a fridge?
I may be dreaming, i dont know what would be involved, and if u can buy them for use in cars. Any thoughts?

lol not a bad idea to cut up the rear vents and have them funnel into the console box. Create some seriously chilled cans

yeh you can get them for cars, i'm not sure where from, but i know landrover discovery 3's have this has an option, u either have it has a normal center console cubby box or as a mini fridge, its perfect for upto 4 cans or stubbies from memory, but if they can have them as a factory option then you can defenatly get them from some where, maybe arb might have one that can fit or the ones they sell might manufacture a smaller one. can't remember the name but saw alot of mini type car fridges in 4wds. so there's defenatly a market out there just got to find a brand and contact them.

and from memory it just hooked up to a power and earth wire with an on off switch in it at the top, just like a normal fridge, no cool, coolest, coldest settings, but worked well.

Toyota cressida from the early to mid 90's had fridges in the boot from factory think they were only in the royal saloon model though

Some days the console in mine acts like a fridge. I leave cans of V in there and sometimes they come out almost icy cold.
Maybe there's a hole in the vent piping somewhere....not that I'm complaining

The ute had cooled cup holders as holden were too lazy to plug up the under console vents that go to what was the back seat vents.

You can buy the little fridge units from Dick smiths??? You just have to mount it in the console box and wire it in and it will cool it down to a percentage below ambient temperature! My mate mounts them in esky's.
Cheers................Pete.

The current mark 5 Golf has a facility to air condition the glove-box and the console, by opening up a small valve in each compartment. Worked pretty well.
