anti-flash?
Completely hypothetically speaking, what can be done/sprayed on to number plates to make them unable to be read or captured by speed cameras?
Cheers.

Nothing. If you don't want to be done by a speed camera, don't speed.

yeh there is a sure fire way to stop your plate from showing up mate;
You see, the first thing to do is drive at the speed limit. Believe it for not your plate will NEVER show up on a speed camera. Pretty sick idea hey man! dont tell everyone though, its kinda a secret

I dont think you'll get the answer you're looking for on this forum.
I saw on brainiac or something like that on tv, they tested that hairspray theory....the flash glared up the spray and blinded the camera.....but its completly impractical because u'd need to keep reapplying it at an absurd rate, its easier not to speed.......EVER

I seen a mythbuster on this, and basically nothing worked. I think the only thing that could be done is put a huge mirror across the back of the car, which was completely impractical.
But i think i do remember some number plate covers you could fit, that tint against flashes, but they are illegal and the cops will pull you up and fine you big time.

It doesn't matter what you spray on or cover the plate with. If it is transparent enough to see with the naked eye, it will show up in a photo. Have you heard of photo editing software? My boss was done a while ago, his plate is white on black, the photo that he got was black on white, it wasn't really clear, but you could make out the plate quite easily. The digital image can be manipulated so it will still show up.

yeah but we're talkin about overexposing the camera, to the point where the iris basically shuts off. the flash goes off, and for whatever reason lights up the plate so much the naked eye cant see it...its just like looking through a glass pane at a certain angle at the sun.

It's a digital camera.....it compensates on a software level for over exposure.

allot of them here in VIC dont even have flashes anymore, I agree with most of the above, just don't speed.
besides, you might save on one or two fines, but if/when you get caught, they will throw the book at you.
