hi everyone can any1 tell me how heat resitant is fibreglass i am smoothing the engine bay in my hz and was wondering if fibreglass would be good enough cos it'd be heaps easier than sheet metal. 327 chev so there will be a fair bit of heat
i'd say it would be fine, it wouldnt be copping more then 2-3 hundred so it'd probably hold up ok, remember that fibreglass is exactly that, glass and resin, glass is pretty damned tough and so is hardened resin, that same resin is also used in allot of two pack paints that can withstand a fair temp as well.
The company I work for uses fibreglass resin (without the glass fibres in it) in our two pack flowcoat, now that **** is pretty tough.
depends on the type of resin polyester is good up to 80degrees better resin will
go a bit hotter
polyester will do the job but may distort or sag a bit if it gets to warm
if all else fails prepreg carbon can handle 600 degrees![]()
