    Default Brake Shops??

Hi does anyone know of a great brake shop that knows what they are really talking about?

I would like to find out about the different materials discs and pads are made from.

PM the guys from GM rallysport (sponsor), i recommend getting the QFM pads, i've had them on mine for a couple of months now and the car stops a lot better than the bendix ultimate ones i had before

Most better known brake shops are pretty good.
As for Bendix, it depends on what you want out of them and make sure that they're mated to the right type of rotor. There's no point using the Ultimate pads, if you're using standard rotors - these pads almost require slotted & drilled rotors.
The best overall pads to use (for all types of driving, except hooning ) are the DB1331HD (semi-hard compound) for the front & DB1332GCT (ceramic compound) for the rear. Mate these pads to slotted rotors all around & you'll have fantastic stopping power.
I work with these things for a living & have them on my own VT.

You need to remember that the harder the compound of the pads, the tougher the rotors need to be, else they'll need replacing when you replace your pads (or near enough to it).

If you want to gain info, I suggest you make a number of phone calls, just to suss-out what the various brake shops are like - it's usually easy enough to tell the bull from the facts

The above suggestion of GM Rallysport is also a great point of reference

What exactly is your current issue, or what are you trying to achieve?

As has been said, the QFM gear are quickly becoming the best pads available, and at prices other brands just can't compete with, but in all honestly, I personally couldn't tell you what they're made of! Except that the A1RM has a higher copper content to take heat away from the contact area, and that they're obviously non-asbestos organo-metallic (says so on the box! ).

Both the HPX and A1RM aren't particularly fussed whether a rotors is slotted etc. I personally run the HPX full face 'police spec' in my cross 6 on normal rotors... and run the A1RM in the rally car on slotted. Neither are too sensitive to being bed in properly or not.

Have a quick squiz at QFM Performance and there's a few reports from guys with VE's, including links to where they said it... not just stuff I made up!

If you're after a Bendix Ultimate type performance pad, then the HPX is easily as good, but doesn't have the rotor wear and dust that people generally associate with the Ultimates... If you're after a street/track pad, or just the best in braking, then the A1RM is still a 100% streetable pad, with low dust and rotor wear, and slightly better performance than something like a EBC Red...

Check out those reports because customers have said it better than I ever could, and with our half price rears deal continuing, you can get a full set of HPX for $131 delivered, or $191 for A1RM delivered. Both in stock.

Any other questions just let us know.

    Regards,
    Greg
