Gday fellas....
in the next week or so i plan on givin the wagon a new paintjob...was just wondering what methods are used for 2pac....i herd that its one thick coat or something but after hearing that i instantly thought about runs....
can anyone sorta give me some methods or what not?? thanks guys..
where are you spraying it at home or in a booth as it is illegal to spray 2pac in the open in a residential area
nat
If you don't know how to spray paint i sugest you get someone else to do it. Sorry but it's not something anyone can learn in 1 day. It takes years to get good at painting.
Hey. I'm a spraypainter.
I strongly suggest you get someone with expirence to do it.
There's alot too it.
The fines for spraying outside of a certified booth can top 100k and include inprisonment.
best thing to do is read the instructions you get with the paint and or look up the technical data sheet on the web. 2 pac I have used was infinitely recoatable, so you can do as many coats as you want with no runs. Oh yeah, and get a good supply of measuring cups before you start, and a few mixing stix.
Hmm Not exactly mate.
You need to put just the right ammount on. Not enough and it will break down in our harsh environment. Too much, and it will fail to adhear properly.
That combined with the over all technique to get a nice finnish.... Pay some one![]()
why didn't you say that before soop ?
I know its not easy , and he'll probly not get a perfect finish, but will get a load of satisfaction... either that or he'll be strippin it offf again real soon. lol.
Just make sure you do it safely
2k wood paint is different to the auto stuff.
Generally The auto paints are easier to apply from what i've done.
Just make sure you get the primer on nice and even.
If you get runs in it, sand it right back to metal or the original colour. the runs will show through otherwise. I don't care what other people say, you can always see the shadow.
Ah sorry, I didn't mean sand the whole lot back.
If you get a run, sand the whole car as per usual. Then where the run is I find it easier to sand that area back to what ever is underneath the primer and then reapply it.
Because it sure does suck when you put the paint on, and then notice a ripple in it two weeks later, because you didn't completely flatten the run.
read the new s/c magasine they have a 10 page write up of this.youl be best of doin it in acrylic if your doing it your self not to mention using 2 pac u got me in proper clothes etc for the job.im doin my own acrylic job soon when i find a cheap vl
Where I used to work I had to paint 2 pack very often on boats and machinery it's quite easy to paint with really I used to get some farmers stuff up to car standards with it. All I had for saftey was a mask and my normal cloths, it's shonky stuff, gets on your legs makes you itchy gets in your eyes. It's one of the main reasons I never went back to work there. Even fully suited up I rekcon it would kill you and the neighbours. Acrylic may not be as strong but it's even easier to paint with and much safer so I only use that now![]()
i have painted a few of my own cars over the years with some really really good results, but if its ur first time (auto spraying) then use acrylic as it is much easier to use for a first timer...
but grab ur self a spare panel n go for it..
im not no where near a profesional painter nor have i worked in the industry but i did do a pre app course at MITA which tought me the very basic's and i went from there..
hmmm i wonder if they have a similar course here in sa
LOL, Thats something I taught myself.
As I said, it sucks ass when you notice the ripple two weeks after the fact!
if you doing it in a back yard shed your best of using 2 pac base and acrylic clear just make sure the base is dry
I think the OP has worked out any problems in the last 2 years. Awesome thread dig buddy.
