g'day guys and girls, im 16 have a vr acclaim, and wanting some help on cheap modds nothing over the top tho. ive got a cai, 2.5inch cat back exhaust with a hot dog on the rear...just put a vp motor in with 130thou on the clock as my other motor packed up on me...was thinking of doing the bellmouth dont no if its worth it tho? and also anyone have a clue about power chips? was thinking of going 3.45 gears in the diff as theyd be cheap to pull out of a vl? thanks
Last real thing you can do to it without going to deep is get a Greenfoam tune. Speak to Greenfoam on the forums, and talk to him burning you a tune. Very good.
Then it's start to do some mechanical work.
Things like some YT High Ratio Roller Rockers.
After that. It's serious work, and serious money.
Camshafts. Stroker Kits. Over-sizing. Head-work.
Or, just bolt on a S/C![]()
Can always go one of those little cheap SC14 superchargers or so? They seem to be pretty popular with these old engines.
lol yeah, well when I see supercharger I instantly presume a 'real one' like a Raptor kit or something, not the little SC14 ones :P
Yeah, because of the size of the engine (3.8L) when they come off a little 4cylinder, they just can't spin enough to make a good psi, so they make yeas... 3psi around that, people have used different pulleys and such, but supercharger doesn't last long, being strained too much, little fella just cant handle it.
Could always find a nice big Vortech V7 to go on there, hehe![]()
its a vp motor u said.. pull the throttle body off and pull out that pesky bit of black plastic tube.
with that gone u get more air.
more air = more power.
try it ull notice the difference.
More throttle response, not more power![]()

yeah i was going to pull the bellmouth out but havent heard the best results about them was also thinking of cutting the bellmouth on a angle? not sure tho? umm yeah when on ebay can get chips for 20dollars so i was like F*** yeah and i think im going to buy one whether it works or not is a different story =) thanks for the feedback, wont be supercharging it not worth it for these motors haha if anything 2jz converstion with 3540r for the win haha but haved got those type of funds
i'd go 3-4 psi of boost through an SC14 if you are looking to keep things mild. at your age though, your not allowed to, so basic and easily hidden bolt ons and internal mods it is for you mate.
