VY auto whine

Hi All,

I'm not very experienced with Auto's and i cant find my Mechanics books so i thought i'd ask around.

my VY V6 has a whine in the auto and i dont know what the common problems are that make a constant whine or where to start with problem solving tests to find out what it is?

the whine sound starts when drive is selected and changes with road speed, its not loud but its definatly there.

any advice or knowledge would be gratefully appreciated
