October 25th - Port Kembla Cruise
Hi guys/gals,
As the weather warms up I thought it would be good chance to soak up the sun by going to Port Kembler & have a bbq ($5 per person - Kids eat free). Food will be simple... Snags, rissoles, bread rolls and cold drinks... Anything more than this would start to get expensive!
As per normal we will find a good spot to stop & have some grub..
Date: 25th October 2008
Meet Point: Krispy Kreme, Liverpool Megacenta
Time: Meet @ KK by 11am leave 11:15am
Route To Port Kembla:

P.S It isn't that narrow but can be a little tight

Could i throw up for discussion that a sunday might be better than a saturday, or not, as a few people might have to work sat mornings ect?
I wouldnt mind attending if i can get the day off that weekend, but i wont be cruising since i already live in the gong, ill just meet up with ya's at where ever and do lunch.

Sounds like a good change of pace, $5 a head is reasonable for food and stuff.
What does everyone think?

I completley understand where you are coming from, I work every second Saturday so I've missed the last couple of cruises for that reason.
The reason I prefer Saturday though is because of the fact that if we do alot of driving on a Sunday & have to go back to work on Monday you'll be buggered for the week...
Hope to catch ya there!
I'll be sending out a group e-mail in the next couple of days.
Cheers
Rich

I am in, car or not
Route 2 looks like an interesting detour. Never gone along Wilton Rd.
I think Mischa and someone else was saying there are a few good spots within Port Kembla or around there for beaches and photos.
It will be good to go through the national park again.
VRWagz, we have usually cruised on a Sunday before but I believe we have other members wanting to go on Saturday this time due to reasons unknown. If you can meet up with us you are more than welcome. Its always good to meet new members.

I think VrWagz1 mentioned Port Kembla, will good to have a local show us the sites...
I think the main thing is where we start from and just go with the flow in relations to where we stop...
BBQ sounds like fun, what do we think team?

well I'm in of course, dont mind which route we go and BBQ sounds like an idea if we can get hold of a BBQ or find somewhere that has one!
The day debate is one we've had before, and I think in 2009 we might look at alternating cruises, have one on a Sat, the next one on a Sun because some work Sat, some work Sun, some work neither, some work every 2nd or 3rd Sat or Sun, but thats something to worry about in Jan!
Tis also good to see some new names who have signed up for track day coming along to cruises, a chance to get to know everyone before Januarys event!
Also Haydz IMHO easiest way to cook a big BBQ is saussages, rissoles, bread, sauce and if you dont like it you'll have to bring your own. Its how we do it at work for 50 odd people and it works out fine, its just getting the amount right

Once we get the final numbers we should know how many to buy for. I would say just ask people for something like $10-$20 get meat, bread and drinks and sauces.
Problem is who has a portable BBQ or are there public ones somewhere?
Sausages and rissoles are all you really need.

Hay, i took some photos of hill60/port beach area, there is a public bbq at hill 60. But ill post some pics tonight and it'll give ya's some idea what it looks like, if ya wanna go there instead of austi beach, only thing is it wont have lots of bikini babes like austi.
But the locals have busted the bomb doors open to the old underground war tunnel that goes through the hill, so we can go for a quick wander through that again.
Could have a bbq on hill 60 and a wander around there and take a few happy snaps and go for a surf/beach cricket(if its allowed) or somthing on port beach below after.
