Hey guys and girls.
Had a look at a couple of insurances, Im in the search for one, One that covers modified cars, Such as wheels/stereo/springs/tint/ ect ect.
I had a look at just cars, That seemed ok. Just seeing if anyone else knows of some good ones?
Thanks.
My 2003 VY Holden Commodore
aami and SGIC insured my car. lowered, rims, stereo, exhaust, suspension mods sway bars and shit, tint. Never had a problem
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Aami are pretty good mate...they are quite tolerant with mods as long as they don't go overboard, small things like springs, tint and wheels....easy...other companies are really bad for mods though. If you want a really tolerant insurance company for mods, get Just Cars, because thats what the specialise in. Be aware though that insurance is a pain in the ass...it's expensive as
my excess is $4500, 1.3k a year, with just cars, and I have no tickets or reckless driving related offenses.
BankSA car insurance wouldn't cover me after I fitted extractors. They must know something about the horsepower secrets extractors unlock that I don't. :P
Check out my VP right 'ere!
Was with Just Car for about 5 years. Had a R33 Skyline (only place that would insure an import) and the XR6T.
Went with AAMI with the SS, cheaper premium, cheaper excess and they cover wheels, tint, lowered, stereo etc even cam and chip.
Im 19, Almost on 2nd year P's and after Full Comp.![]()
My 2003 VY Holden Commodore

AAMI, they're good, covered all mods no probs; UHF; MAGS; TINT; MUD FLAPS, etc. I'm thirty something with perfect record, think it's $400^ premium and $200-or $300 standard excess. It's only covered for agreed value or market value if higher and the premium didn't rise with any of the mods, however I don't think the agreed value went up either.
Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise
Hey guys maybe worth trying NRMA they do mine and my wifes cars as well as the home etc. dont go with racq apparently they have just added $500 to their excess for no reason i've been told! and for other with racq or suncorp worth the call if they dearer than your current policy they give you $50 for you trouble! free cashola what could be better!
Be very careful with the excess amount, and make sure that all of your modifictions are listed on the insurance agreement. If any are omitted it gives them a get out of jail free clause
Youi wont touch him. From what Ive seen their pretty strict on younger people.
I was doing quotes the other day, focusing more on lower premiums.
This is what i got:
Just Car: 1141 with a 2.5 grand excess
AAMI: 1400 with 2 grand excess
RACV: 2100 with 1000 exces
Racv came down to about 1500 with 2 grand excess.
That was on a VT II SS Manual with Exhaust Extractors Stereo Rims CAI and im 21.
