pretty shure the ve steelies dont fit on later models without getting the hub machined out..just like ve ssv's and all that

well thats in another thread i made....dw thats gettin sortd
i just wanna see how big of tyres i can fit on em
found a set of rubber at the local tyre shop,
he gave me quote on some hankook's 255/60
how wide are these? got no idea
get out the tape measure and measure 255mm :L
yeah their preeety wide for stockies
Eureka styles!
ahk is that how it works...thats y i asked it cause i got no idea
255s wont fit on a 7 inch rim, doubt they would fit under a VX either
recommend anything else greenfoam?
thats what the guy offered at the shop, but 255 isnt it like 9.5" or close to it? that wont fit ayy?
we have 10 inch tyres on the pontiac with 255 rubber so ywah i would image it being around 10'
Eureka styles!
235 mate. Mayyybe 245's with rolled guards or an insane camber lol. Think you'll need coil overs if your running them in the front tho. 235's me reckons rather than 245's.
i had 185's on my vn when i was younger its a mean piece of tread :P
As Wavez suggests, 235/45 is the widest tyre you should consider on 7 inch rims without having to involve additional cost modifying the suspension, body or both. The limiting factor is the amount of clearance available at the top inside edge of the front tyre, where it runs very close to the suspension strut.
The "235" part of the number refers to the width of the tyre in millimetres. The "45" part refers to the tyre's profile, which is the ratio of depth to width. The depth is the distance from the rin to the outside circumference of the tyre, measured as a proportion of the tyre's width. In this example, the tyre is 235 millimetres wide and the profile (also known as aspect ratio) is 45% of 235 millimetres.

hmmm, well ive been thinkin that i shud get 225 for the fronts and mayb 235 or possiable 245's at the rear? that shud hopefully work and wud look tuff![]()
yehh, on my other 15's i got 205/65 and on my other 16's i got 225/65 but with these new wheels i got i wanna go bigger
grab some 17x8 wheels and put 255/40R17 tyres on the rear
Im running 255 all round on my VT and its legal being within the 15mm rolling diameter

bit late now...ive spent 400 bucks on gettin these now so im stayin with em![]()
as said above the ve rims would need to be machined to fit, but im pretty certain the vz had 16in chasers too??
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
yeh machinin is gettin organised....hmm i dnt knw bout that...first i heard where on the ve...
they biggest you could go it 235 but not that common as the 225
255's fit 8" rims thats the max for them too!
stick with 225/16 or as i have traction issues i went 17x8 with 255 plenty of room under the rear guard and grippy too!
good thing a have stacks of tyres spare, i may even sell some if people in need of em?
with all the trouble you went to with the machining etc u could have had bought a set of wheels/tyres for probly the same price and have looks to go with it!
good luck there mate!
Ive got traction issues too on my VT with the 255 tyres, I can easily break traction under half throttle
Trust me its not the tyres as I have Good Year Revspecs, Excellence and Kumho KU-31
(two sets of 17x8 wheels and tyres)

you paid $400 bucks? i could of sold you my 16" VE's with rubber on them machined out for $300.
you can machine them out yourself to. all you need is die-grinder and air compressor.
ohhh that is sweet m8...howd u get the 255's to fit??? cause i want 255's pretty bad
wasnt reli 400 it was $350 but its close though lol that includes caps aswell which where like 20 bucks each...i dnt care how much they where or how cheap i cud of got them sumwhere else...yeh i cud of also got a nice set of 18's or 19's with the money im spendin..
but the thing is i wanted these not 18's etc...
