Statistics show that 90% of all commodore accidents happen right after the words "Watch this bro!"

I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Some type of oil filtration system, my guess. Is the VK a six or a V8?
Edit - just had a closer look at the pics, Id say it definantly an extra oil filter that worked in conjunction with the main filter. Aftermarket set up, or maybe even home made. Made up with various items.
They have plumbed it into the oil gallery where the oil pressure switch normally goes, and bypassed it back to the sump.
Whoever did it must've wanted really clean oil!
Project Berlina TURBO!
Wait. I know what this is! Someone tried to sell me one i think! It is an oil filter that makes you not need to change you're oil for like 5 years or something. It is aftermarket. I was drunk at the time and i would rather have new oil lol. But yes i remember now. He showed me the identical thing on a corolla.
I own an Commodore, therefore, I own the road
Oh how i love rear wheel drive
The VK is an 3.3lt EFI
oil filter, waste of space. By the sound of the setup it would actually reduce the amount of oil being pumped up to the top of the engine. so even if your oil lasted 5 years your engine would need replacing at the same time.

Ok found out its an old Frantz filter setup
more info here if any1 interested
Frantz Filters Manufactured by We Filter It! Inc - Oil, Diesel and Gas Filters
I remember a bloke used to appear years ago at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney every year with an old Plymouth or something similar, fitted with one of these filters. He was demonstrating how effective they were and I think they actually used toilet rolls for filters. He used to pull the dipstick, wipe it with his finger, then clean his finger on his shirt and there was no dirt showing. I'm pretty sure it was Franz filters he was flogging.
After hours of goole ing, found out that this one is exactly the same as the Frantz only its made by Filter Technology Australia. model. FM1000
It is an oil spinner. What it is supposed to do is spin the oil in a circular motion to clean the oil of foreign matter like dirt and metal filings. The idea was that it was to keep your engine oil in pristine condition and therefore making the oil service interval longer; IE normal oil service 10,000Km but with the spinner, you could extend the service interval to 20,000Km. I was a lube technician for 16 years for a coach company and they fitted one of those "things" to one of the coaches. They were not a good thing at all! Damn messy is about all I can say for them
