A friend was cleaning the throttle body on my car, engine running and it sucked up the little plastic straw. The idles were going up and down and a clunking noise appeared for about a minute then it stopped. The car seems to be running normal.
I am wondering if the straw may have damaged any internal components? It would melt away as a result of all the heat so it should be fine?
im sorry, but why clean it while car is running? ive never heard of people doing that.
Ive done mine when car is cold, and off.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
the guy at repco said to have the car running and spray it in.
Doesn't hurt it if is running when you clean it.
Think about your question, the straw is plastic, plastic versus steel and heat? I think the plastic will lose....
i understand that but could it have damaged anything when it entered the engine?
And should i change the oil?
I'd be more worried about the plastic melting and staying in a cylinder.

Sounds like it's been ingested and digested, there isn't much you can do about it now so just see how things pan out, I'd say it's more than likely fine though.![]()
Check out my VP right 'ere!
The biggest problem I see is the plastic bits going into the exhaust and contaminating the O2 sensors or partially blocking the front of the cat.
I think it would be in the OZONE LAYER by now.
