I have 14 volts at the battery with the engine running, Alternator Good. I have 12.8 Volts at the battery with the engine off. The battery voltage goes to 10 volts when the starter motor is energised. The starter motor just cranks the engine over (slowly). Can anyone give advise to determine if it is the battery or the starter motor. I think the starter motor is on the way out.
Check your connections on your battery give them a clean and re seed them that would be my first like of call
Thank you for your reply. I checked the voltage at both the connections and at the battery and the voltage is the same. Also, the connections are clean.
sounds like your starter motor as your battery voltages sound fine
Thank you. I am going to buy a new starter motor, cheap on ebay
Just sounds to me like you need a jump start mate. You need 14.4 volts to crank at 400+cca, so even if your lights and all acc are working fine at 12v doesn't mean you have cranking power.
PLEASE hook up some jumper leads and at least try to jump start it before you buy another starter![]()

i had similar issues with my wagon eventually the battery died in the after fixing alternator with a jumpstart my starter would crank fine.
So i suggest getting a jumper if it turns over fine id say your battery needs replacing
