Too thick for such a new engine. Even a #w50 is a waste(except for Mobil 1 5w50 still quite thin), make use of a quality #w40 all year round for better economy and freedom of the engine. If your racing it, a different story. 5w40 is the best and lowest you would go. Also your engine should be able to handle 0w40 from Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge. Shell helix ultra, Pennzoil platinum, Penrite Sin are all good for you to use. What does your book say by the way ?

What does your book say by the way ?

the book said 5w/30 or 10w/30 API SL/SM (ILSAC GF-3/GF-4)
under sever operating conditions (operating over 180 km.h or 4000 rpm in excess of ten minutes use fully synthetic oil meeting the above standard >>>> that's what written in the book
the agent in my country is using 5-50 AC Delco (that's what drove me to ask )

Holden do thousands of hours of R&D so they would know better than anyone what is the best viscosity for your engine. So the question needs to be answered, "Why would you use a viscosity of 10w/60 which is far from being the 5w/30 which is recommended by Holden???."

Use what is recommended in the Holden Owner's Manual. Use a full synthetic once the engine is run in and if you stick to the main oil manufacturers like Mobil, Castrol, Penrite, then you can't go wrong. Well im sure you could, but its not hard to follow recommendations from people who have spent millions of dollars to test their products.

that's very wright but as i said in my previous post (the agent of holden in my country is using 5-50) not folowing the user manual so i thought it could be specification revesion or new oil viscosity for this type of engines
