    Default Vs problem please help

    Hi there

    I have a Vs Wagon 97

    To cut a long story short the car keeps clicking when you want to start it had the mechanic around monday he replaced the starter motor and now Wed it seems to be clicking again please tell me its not the starter motor again??

    his trying to say it could be a terminal??

    please help what is it ??

    sounds like your alternator, if the alternator is not working it wont recharge your battery, and therefore the car wont start and you hear the clicking sound you're describing. This happened to my old vs, chucked in a new alternator (took the one from my dads vy LOL) and she was right as rain. Unfortunately they're not cheap, bout $150-200.

    to test it use a voltmeter, should be around 12 or something.

    hard to say, as you had the starter motor replaced and the car was running, it sounds to me as though the alternator has gone. if one of your mates has a commodore vs-vy, swap the alternator over and see if yoúrs will start then

    i had a vs up until 3 weeks ago and everything went on it. including the alternator and starter motor. the new alternator cost me 450 installed. but i live in the middle of no-where!

    yeh ticking sound and no start is common of a flat battery..and seeing a new starter is in there i'd be following Victimiza and test the volt output with a multi-meter...also get a free battery test at beaurepaires...its where i work...we'll do it for nothing and that might help figure it out....if its drivable atm...also if it won't start try jumpin if that works means yo bat is flat and Victimiza has hit the nail on the head

    could be a dodgy fuel pump relay?
