first off im going to assume this was done on private land away from public roads..

and to the point what were the conditions?

racing from a complete stop to a certain speed, or say 50-100kmh?

    need more details..

standing start you vy stock should spank the vz.. is the vz just an alloytec?

ye the VZ has a 195ish kW alloytech engine but the vy has the old 147kW engine with a pretty average supercharger which only adds 20 or so kilowatts
Ford at least they circled the problem

the l67 (supercharged motor) is 170ish stock, but has most torque down low where the alloytec has all its power up top

i have no problem taking alloytecs and most standard ls1s on the line because i can stall to 2500rpm an dump it off the line

you dont need to manually use gears in the auto hold it flat itll change outa first anyway

are you running premium atleast 95octane? they get reallll sluggish on standard unleaded

Run good fuel and get all your maintenance up to date. After that's done take it from there with a few simple mods like a smaller charger pulley, cooler plugs and improved cold air intake. There's also a chance that when you raced your mate you didn't floor the pedal. If you don't literally slam the pedal to the floor the charger may not get full boost.

straight away get some premium in there mate youll notice a massive difference,

the computer retards the timing when it detects pinging and 91octane is just not enough
if i run 91 i can tromp it off the line and it wont splutter or anything just.. not wana move

if you get a nice exhaust, (stock is well flowing but it all helps) run a smaller pulley (10psi) and a good fuel with a good cai setup youll really liven her up, you can go the xu6 chip but personally id hold off and get a decent tune if you want more

You have been told what to do. Get a good CAI, 10psi (smaller) pulley and run it on 98 octane...You will be suprised how much difference that will make. Once you get used to that, put a nice exhaust on it. If you want to go a bit more hardcore after that, then go Intercooler and/or cam. Both of those will require a custom tune on a dyno, but will get you somewhere in the vicinity of the 270-280rwhp with either of those. Both combined will get your over the 300rwhp mark.

There are plenty of tried & tested go fast bits around for the L67 these days.

Your vehicle might be running a fair bit sluggish especially if the motors getting on in age and hasn't been properly taken care of along the way. A stock L67 can hit 50km/h in 2.5 seconds when pedal is fully given the boot. It should do this in roughly 20 metres. Thats real world figures too on a wet bit of bitumen with a bit of slippage. Should hit 100m/h in 6.5ish seconds. Dont believe me? Check out my ride's thread and the link to the YouTube video. Vehicles stock (as far as i know) except for a self designed CAI and felpro head gaskets (the only other performance modification atm). And running 98RON. With 98 fuel you should definatly beat a VZ with only an exhaust on.

If you want to get even better times after mainting it and 98 RON fuel try the pulley. Then probably exhaust and intercooler.

thats what i love about them, massive torque spurt from 0.. i love the feeling when you stall it up on the brake an it snaps to 40ks soon as the brake drops

mynes done almost 305thousand ks orignal motor, 2nd charger an trans
was bought by my bro inlaw at around 150thou and had a hard time ever since i mean it loves to rev so why not let it haha

still no signs of weaking what so ever, doesnt burn oil and still has good comp

    all hail l67
