Default had tailshaft vibrations, changed everything and wobble is still there

had a rooted uni so i went all out and changed the centre bearing, cv and both unis and some of the vibration went away but at around 40-50kmh on light throttle it does vibrate a bit still.

now i know the shaft went back together the same way cos i marked it and unis feelt good before the shaft went back in..

whats could be causing the vibration?

i didnt get the shaft balanced though- does that need to be done after changing a cv?

car is a vs with irs

hmm.. checked your balancing of the wheels mate?...

might need balancing of the tailshaft but not if you put it back the same way....

It might sound stupid but have you checked the level of your power steering fluid and the pressure in your front tyres?

as a general rule if the vibration is through the floor of the vehicle it would suggest that there is something wrong with your balancing in your wheels or worst case rear wheel bearings possilbly.

its always had a vibration in the two months ive owned it but it improved after i changed everything.

i havent had the wheels balanced but it did cop a wheel alignment before i took it from the dealer.

    rear wheel bearings in irs???

im hoping its not a pinion bearing or somethign sending the vibration thru the shaft...the diff it a tad noise and i havent checked/changed the oil and the car is a s.a car so its done mostly hwy k's.

what about a buggered engine mount?

check you trans mounts and engine mounts if it's been vibrating for a while it has probably stuffed the trans mounts.

How low is it? Im going through the same thing with my SS. The guys at hardy spicer said if the shaft doesnt fix the viabration (@ 2500rmp) i would most probably have to get adjustable upper control arms to sort out pinion angle with the diff. The car is at the lowest legal brow height i wouldnt think it would be pinion angle with the shaft????

I've got a mate with a vp wagon has a very small vibration at 90-100kph he has spent $400 done all the usual stuff, but if it's not to bad then maybe just put up with it because you could be chasing it for a while and spend fair amount (his car cost him $1500).

    its standard stato height.

the cv that i took out had 1-2mm of the spline worn away but i cant remember if it was the front or rear of the cv whee it was worn.

would a stuffed trans mount really cause this sort of vibration?

also might add that the wobble gets worse over 110 clicks and dosent really stop

yes, a stuffed trans mount will cause this amount of vibration, get under the car and just check for obvious wear or damage to the mount/s.

rear wheel balance. itll cost you 10 bucks per wheel and worth it. even if it doesnt fix it at least its cheap to rule out.

changed the mount and its still there.

all sorts of noises can be heard in the box now that the stuffed mount cant absorb them.

so the box is letting go, only lasted 220k which isnt that bad really.

Check the converter bolts to see if they are loose or even missing. This will give you some decent vibrations.
