Hey guys, I'm just wondering if it would be legal to take the white and blue number plates off my car, and spray them black with white writing? I'm assuming not, but it doesn't help to ask others.
No, because the letters and that are reflective . and if you painted them they would no longer like be visable when a camera or what not that a picture of your plates
What about painting he blue bits plate, and leaving the white reflective surface unaltered?
nah mate its illegal to modify your numberplate in anyway, big fines. well in SA anyways.
but what cop actually looks at your plates to check for defects?
MY VY SV8 HBD http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...y-sv8-hbd.html
one of my best mates used to work for a truck transport company who cut the bottom of their numberplates off coz it fitted better on the bull bars the "sa the festival state" part they got massive fines and abosolutely raped by transport SA.
ive been warned by the police for a slightly faded rear number plate when i was on my P's and i seen a guy get a $900 fine for faded plates on a cruise only as few months ago.
i would say its illegal since they are not yours they belong to the relevent rta in your state plus the reflective thing
Yeah they'll bend you over mate black and whites are about $80 in nsw with out changing the content.

Cant mod the plate your self and its not worth the $400 to change a standard issue plate.Buy some custom plates, they are cheap as chips on eBay now.
