    Default massive police blitz

so i went on a 45 minute drive last night from frankston to cockatoo (near emerald) and on the way i passed 2 booze busses, 8 police cars and 2 speed cameras. the police are having a field day out there pulling over anyone in an even slighty modified car and anyone with p's. Anyone else been pulled up?

They going crazy down here, got pulled up, did my breatho quick check of my tyres etc and drove off.

Whats the issue here? Or is there one? Its great to see police out there going after ANYONE. Hopefully they get a few unroadworthy vehicles off the road at the same time.

yeah this weekend is a big BIG crackdown on drink/drug driving and speeding etc.

west side has alot too - in melton alone 3 booze busses last night and too many cops around marked and unmarked pulling people over left right and center

"You know what!" an shove a fist up everyone that dissobeys the law.

The police being so active and EVERYWHERE on the right nights, will cause a big hit on everyone...
It'll actually get through to some of the douche bags...

Well whoever is pulled over and is busted, deserve to their cars taken from them. If someone drinks and drives then they are an idiot and if the car is unroadworthy they deserve a chance to fix it but if they don't then thats there fault.

I am wondering when the government will change the bloody law on drink drivers. Drink drivers cars should be impounded at the time of the offence until the owner of the vehicle can blow .00. Through the week a P plater was caught drink driving twice in a matter of 3 hours. How the hell can this be allowed to happen? Its a downright joke.

Yeah I know, Gone of the day, Caught drink driving over the legal limit, You'd have to leave your car there... Never see that anymore.

I've been reading a whole bunch of articles on the VicPolice site, Quite incredible at the levels of stupidity presented by a lot of drivers on the road.

In all seriousness, why should we waste police resources on bloody drink drivers? It is ridiculous that people get on a public road and put others life at risk without the consent of others.
People should have enough sense to drive without being under the influence. We should all feel safe on the roads, not be worried about some idiot who doesn't give a shit about anyone else.

yeah was thinking of going down tonight too. its a pain in the ass when you see the lights in the rear mirror but as long as your not drinking theres really not a whole lot to worry about. more of an inconvenience than anything

Yes its a joke, but its not always the offenders fault. I was caught at .04 the morning after on my P's. (Yes it was stupid, I took the punishment and have learnt from it). Spent about 2-3 hours at the cop shop getting processed, then shown the door.
I asked to be breatho'd again to see if I was able to drive home, and they just suggested I put it off for a bit longer, so I asked if they could check if my friend who was with me could be checked, and they flat out refused. So we hung around in the city for a bit then she drove home with no idea (and no way of telling) if we did the right thing or not.

i know but like any old car, its always easy to pick on the slightest of things to defect the car. Hand break too many click, seat belt doesnt retract quick enough, front seat has too much movement, no enought water in ur washer bottle, head lights not angled correctly, no 2/3's bounce, car too low, oil on engine. the list could go on.

Thats without them even trying to do you for the usualy stuff like slightly balding tyres (they still have mils from the depth indicator but will still do you, something not secured properly under the bonnet, aftermarket steering wheel, no reverse light.

Some people arent made of money and budget for stuff. hell im riding on a 14inch wheel and trye on the front because i recived a puncture a few weks back and cant afford a new tyre yet.

When your unemployed due to a hit n run accident and the government wont allow you to go onto centrelink due to having a compansation claim against an insurance company. I know i personally have $100 a week for fuel, smokes, food & rent.

Makes it a bit hard to budget for other things. Even a crap brand 15inch tyre will set you back atleast $50 2nd hand. A new one around $100.

I was told this by a cop the other day:
"Your car looks well looked after, and doesn't have bits hanging off, no deafening exhaust and no shiny atttention grabbing stick on bits, so as long as you weren't doing wheelies or something we wouldn't give it a second thought as you drove past"
Which explains how I've been driving my modified commodore and haven't been pulled over even for an rbt in over a year.

From talking to a couple cops lately (all from the same area though), they have a pretty good idea what kinds of cars are going to be causing problems and its not simply a case of "ooh, a modified commodore with p plates, let's get 'im sarge"

See, this gets me. People who piss and moan about having no money to maintain there car, but they smoke?

Mabye if you gave up the smokes you would be able to afford a tyre....

I would have thought maintaining your car would come before a "luxury"
