HI All , I have just brought a VT Commodore 1998 S and for the life of me cant figure out how to turn on the fog/driving lights that are in the bumper . According to the manual there should be a push in button below the main on/off switch for the normal lights but there isnt one .
Can somebody point me in the right direction ??![]()
I don't mean to sound obvious here and i'm not saying you are dumb or anything, but are you sure they are real or even wired up and not just there for show?
Some people do it for the look, maybe the previous owner just put them in there for looks.

'Driving' lights are part of the highbeam circuit, 'fog' lights have a seperate switch. They should generally be 'fog' lights on Commodores, but flick the high beams on and see if they light up.

That was the other thing i was thinking but wasn't sure, i haven't owned a car with foggies yet.

If there is no button there is no lights.

That's what i thought. Wasn't it an option on the SS's anyway? Are they aftermarket foggies or genuine? I'd say they might be just mounted there for show mate.

Not really much point turning them on unless in adverse weather conditions due to the 3 points and $someamount fine if you get pulled over. I never bothered to wire them up in my old ute

HI , they dont come on with the high beam . will check to see if they are even wired in . My guess is that they are . Maybe i am incorrect in say it is a "s" . It is the VT model with the body kit
If you don't find the switch then im sure there will be many people who thank you as this takes away the chance of you wanting to drive with driving lights like so many others do. If people think their cars are not visible enough with headlights alone, then they need to get some serious visual aids.
And yes, the VT S should have a push button switch under the the headlight switch in the dash.
I'm not going to start a war about them again, I'll just say they do help in 'some' cases where it isn't foggy. I'll use any light I can on the 'zoo run' highways.
My guess is that they are there for looks. Probably put in by previous owner who didn't know or didn't get around to wiring them up.

To turn mine on I know I have to have the headlights turned on and then turn the foglights on via the switch on the dash, behind the indicator stalk.
I swear "S" packs didnt have them as standard though so they could be there for show.
yeh the didnt come on the s packs, ive got one my self, but they came standard on the ss. maybe the guy put the ss front bar on the car ?? so u have the foglights but not the switch. u can always get a switch made up though
"unlawful use of additional headlamps" $84 0 points?
I don't know if Foggies attract points, but I know here in Victoria if you fail to dip (turn off your full beams) your headlights then its a 1 point offence. Along with tailgating etc.
