Default Car getting repaired, Can i make changes?

    Hey guys

My dad was in a crash last week, and they are replacing mostly everything on the front end,
insurance is paying for repairs. My question was that, The car is a stock vy executive and would I be able to get them to put on ss headlights (the darker ones) on instead of the stock ones. I'm assuming their not the same price but would it be possible if i paid the difference.

I just thought it would be easier as i was planning on doing it as soon as i buy the car off my dad anyways.
My dad thinks i should just leave it alone, and not bother. I think he just wants the job over and done with no stuffing around. I really don't think it would be any more effort for them. I said I would ring them and pay the difference but dad said no.

probably a stupid answers, sorry guys. But any help would be appreciated

    cheers james

If dad says "no" and it's his car, that's the end of it IMO.

You're asking the wrong people mate, either you respect your dad's wishes, or you call the repair shop and ask them. If you want to know the price difference, ring Holden - will take all of 5min.

Yeh true, I am, I'm not doing anything without his approval, especially contacting them.
Ill just be patient and wait, ill wait until I got the car to myself.

I only thought it would be a good idea as I thought you have to take the front bumper of in order to replace headlights(i don't know if this is correct or were i got this from).

ha ha you should of seen his reaction about 2 month ago when I asked if i could debadge the car (excluding lion). Until I showed him the to-do debadge thread on here. He was impressed by how clean it made the car look.

What he said. Approach the repairer directly, get them to do it and fix them up the difference. Don't ask insurance to do it because they won't.

As already said, approach the repairers, not insurance. The repairers don't care what they put back on your car, as long as you agree and are not left out of pocket.

Example 1. Seven years ago my original car stolen was stolen and recovered. Pioneer HU was taken but was not listed on insurance. A new Eurovox cassette player would have cost $350. The repairer said I can have whatever I want up to the value of $350.

Example 2. Current car was rear ended badly but repaired. Factory Eurovox stacker in the boot was smashed. The value of a new one (if they could source one) was about $700. I already had a pioneer HU so the repairer wanted to know if I wanted a Pioneer 12 stacker to go in the boot as it was cheaper.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!

It's dead easy to get the bumper off, about 5 screws and it just unclips. Don't worry about that.

After that there are a couple of bolts holding the lamps in, and they just come out.

    It's all really easy.
