    which ones?
if it's the eight pointed bolt type as in engine bays, a multisided ( not the hex ones) ring spanner is the tool.
if its those star type screws with the point in the centre, you need the right bit also there are about a dozen different types, I got a set of those bits from cheap as chips a few years ago sixty pieces cost me ten dollars.

Buy the right bit. For the price you pay it's better to get them out properly rather then strip the guts out of them making it impossible.

Dont be a tightarse and just spend the $40 on the kincrome set, has every bit you will ever need.

Usually torx screws are used in non heavy applications, although I agree with buying the correct piece of tool, in the past I have taken out many with just a pair of long nose plies/pliers.

At a pinch you can get them out with a flat screw driver. It has to be small enough to go into the head and wedge into the slots. But otherwise, even a cheap bit set for around $12 at Bunnings will do.

Also you have to make sure you're getting what you need.... There are ones called security heads they have a little dot in the middle.... If you buy torx bits and they don't have the open bit up the middle it won't work.... Obviously..

I looked everywhere for a set of hollow torx bits to remove the roof racks on my Hiace and noone had any. I ended up getting a set of 101 different pieces for 40 bucks off eBay.

These screws are very commonplace now, even with Commies. I wonder why they replaced the good ol' fashioned Phillips head screws with Torx screws anyway.

Less chance of stripping the guts out I suspect.
