to do or not to do?
i want them, but ive searched them and ive heard alot of peoples whitewalls go brown and such. but alot other peoples whitewalls are still in smick condish after 2 years...
so my question isss...Why?
why do they go brown? is it the way they were put on? tyre shine? people not cleaning them?
and to the people who theirs have lasted up to 2 years, what have u done?
thanx guys
Go brown due to road dirt and brake dust and shit. Wouldnt recomend using tyre shine and yes the need to be cleaned regulary to be kept in schmck condition. Some of my mates have had them. Im getting them done as soon as i get my wheels.
The wider the sidewall profile the longer they will last..So, theoretically (obviously this is if they are maintianed well) something on a 65 sidewall profile will last alot longer than something on like a 40 or 45. I think it has something to with the stiffness of the wall, like a bigger wall absorbs more shock than that of a smaller profile..And the oil that seaps out is from the tyre, so they reccommend you wait a bit before getting them on new tyres just so there isnt as much oil in there.
i'd say just dont go driving through mud etc if you can help. and probli clean them when you clean the car would be good...and no tyre shine.
I've found as long as they are cleaned reguarly, it shouldn't be too much of a problem mate. And yeah, no tire shine products or strong cleaning agents.

The VZ is here! About time!
As long as you clean them regularly they should be fine as long as the paint used was good quality and the white waller is somneone who is good!
Some tyre shines can be used on them, the issue is the silicon that is present in most of them causes them to discolour and turn brown.
A few people I know have had white walls on tyres for 12 months easy without any problems, daily driven and still look great!
ok then
thanx everyone for ur comments,
i use tyre shine on my tyres every 2nd week, does this mean i cant get them done??
yeah i know what u mean haha
but what i meant was i heard that u cant get whitewalls done if u have used tyre shine on the tyre coz it comes through?
I was advised by the guy that does them here in adelaide to only use the tyre shine you buy from Holden, never had any dramas with it stuffing them.
"If you're going through hell, keep going"
ive thought about whitewalls but coloured ones like yellow or red something ive seen them but does anybody know where to get them done in melbourne and what they cost
You will need to wait a while for the tyre shine to wear off completely. Even if they are dull on the outside, this doesn't mean they are ready because there will still product in the rubber itself..About 4-6 weeks after applying tyre shine should be enough, maybe even if you degrease the tyres aswell.
It's advised that you dont have tyres white walled if they've had tyre shine used on them in the past, best off to wait until you get new tyres and have them done after a few months, just dont use tyre shine on them in the time between getting them and having them white walled.
Are the tyres currently on that bad? Oh but you only got your wheels not long ago ay? lol Sucks.
