top end noise

hi all, im just after some help i have red 202 and its making some top end noise im thinking tappets/lifters any help is appreciated. how to stop it? im thinking thicker oil....

What grade oil are you running in it at the moment?

im using magnatec 10-40 (i think the mister put it in)

Has it always been noisy or has it just started? It could be anything from bent pushrods to blocked lifters. If the head has just been reconditioned then the lifter preload may not be set correctly. The lifter preload should be 30 to 40 thou.

thanks for the info it has always been there just not as loud. is there any chance it could have something to do with my straight cut gears?

A 10w40 would be way too thin for a 202. I would be using a 20w50.

That might not be the problem but just mentioning thats all
