what is it and what does it do?
In a nutshell, the crank allows the the piston to travel more ie longer stroke increasing displacement, but its a long topic so do a search on strokers in the forum first.
as far as i know its a crank shaft that has a larger offset than a stock one so that the pistons travel further in the cylinders, increasing the capacity of your engine, there are other things to consider when getting a new crank one example is pistons because of the larger offset your pistons may travel to far and foul on the head. hope this was helpful theres alot more to know than this about the subject

Just to add to the above posts:
A simple way to grasp the concept of a stroker is this: Try undoing a tight bolt with a short spanner, if you have no luck with it you get a longer one for the extra leverage/torque, a stroker applies the same kind of principal to the output of your engine.![]()
Check out my VP right 'ere!
I dont think that is really grasping the concept 100%, the idea isnt to increase torque, it is to increase displacemnet, longer stroke leaves a bigger combustion chamber, bigger chamber means you can pump more fuel and more fuel means more bang, with a bigger explosion, the piston is thrown back with a lot more force, this is how the torque is created. Similar concept to boreing out a block.
how much woud it cost to stroke a vy?
Depends on what stroker kit you use, if it's for a V6 or V8, what brand etc.
Best off ringing places for quotes than asking on here, everyone will tell you different.
