    Default Installing External Tacho

    Hi All,

Since my VS does'nt have a Tacho, i am going to buy one from super cheap next week.
Has anyone installed one of these before? Is it difficult to install?

    Cheers

First dont go to supercheap!!! second they are easy as to install for the vs, should be about 4 wires to hook up. Positive, Earth, Illumination and tacho feed. you can get an accesories power feed, illumination power feed and earth from your cig plug, you can get a tacho feed from a wire which is near the left hand strut tower. Pretty simple

There is an even easier way - just buy a Level 2 dash cluster. They fit straight in without needing to hook up any wires.

If you put the effort you put into typing extra question marks, into spelling properly, people might take you more seriously. wat is not What, nd is not And.

Gauges on the bonnet can be a cop magnet, Check the laws on them. I think in some states, you're not allowed chrome gauges. There are laws regarding how high they measure above the bonnet, how well they're attached, possibly type too (Mechanical/Electric). Downsides are relatively obvious; They're much easier to steal or damage. There are no upsides besides aesthetics.

Legally some guages are only allowed outside the car which is the only reason for doing it, I think fuel pressure is one for example, big downside is people dont car to repair a few wires or scratching your car when they rip them off.

i would go for a level 2 cluster, IMO looks heaps better, would probably help with resale and no holes in bonnet or dash

sorry about the spelling. thats just how i txt on my phone. it's quicker and easier. sorry mate.

oh ok, yea i asked a mate and he said that if he came across a car with the gauges on the bonnet that he would probably want to ripp em off. so that would be a worry. they would look good though
