^^, ive always prefered auto's, some autos for example the FPV Typhoon is quicker than its manual transmission

doesnt matter how fast you are, you cant change faster than hydrolic fluid...

Ill admit it straight up, with a bit of work, an auto will be faster in a straight line... this has been proven time and time again. Factory vs. Factory however, manuals are usually faster.

I'd take a manual anyday of the week, i just like playing with something when i drive... but you cant say, with any proof, that a modified auto box will be slower than a manual...

Hmmm, I think you should flip a coin, it will be a lot easier than waiting for a straight forward answer, its' personal choice, drive both and see what you like more in the type of car you are looking at.

mmmm yes. A modified auto box, versus a stock manual box.

Some day you should run a modified auto box against a modified manual box.

I've never conducted this experiment, but I have my suspicions that a non-synchro dog box with a little bit of a rev-cut at the redline would shift just as hard as an auto, and still be lighter while putting more power to the ground

If you live in the city and don't care about cars, buy an auto, simple easy the end .

If you live in the country, buy a manual full stop end of story. I've you live in the city but have a little passion for cars buy a manual. It's really quite easy. This is why they make both kinds of gearbox ^

Like everyone has said, depends on how you drive, but manual is the way. Unless your always stuck in city traffic which means lots of gear changes and being on the clutch a lot more. Otherwise yea, go manual! :P

I've always driven manuals, until I got my auto VX.

Then, I realised even more just how much I HATE driving autos.

Manual box is going in next Saturday, with the Billet short shifter

My 5 speed VN was great fun - I miss it dearly.

I love having the control and the torque RIGHT THERE when I take off, not 5 seconds after I put my foot down.

I drive a manual Hyundai Getz for work, in Sydney traffic and the clutch work has never bothered me, although it is obviously a light clutch in comparison to a Commodore. But, I would still do it in a manual Commodore.

And it is also possible to do smoother shifts in manuals than autos, it just takes a bit of dedicated practise. Smooth changes are easier in RWD cars with a North/South mounted engine as well, since the body doesn't roll forward as much when you back off the throttle.

I reckon if you get the auto you'll regret it. Go the manual and you'll love it

He said the car is for a bit of fun, how many people get in their auto and have a bucketload of fun around a nice twisty road while not touching the gear stick.
