tint em urself to your desired "darkness" with a can of night shade. its easy as hell. it is illegal tho so be carefull on how dark u go. dont get em tinted professionally cos theyl wack tinting film on it and it will just get weatherd and ugly after a few weeks. a can of night chade cost 12 bux from c**ntobahn. but yer im sure tinted tail lights would look good on ya ute.

If you like attention from the cops than tint them, so what i'm saying is don't go overboard with it. Just tint them enough to see a difference but not so that you brake light brightness is effected.

tint them the slightest bit and you are just giving your insurer a valid reason to void your insurance policy when you need it the most.

Plus it looks retarded anyway - just like altezzas.

thats egzactly right, doesnt look to bad but altezzas look shit anyway if you get hit up the arse big time and you have tinted tail lights bye bye insurance, just do it very lightly if you do it. a brand called VHT paints does it and should be availvile at the auto stores, super cheap, autobarn, repco and so on
    cheers

You cannot tint the reflectors, also you brake lights must be visible from 200m away to be legal

had a guy come into my mates recently after a set of tail lights, he had just been defected for a few minor things, but on the list was tinted tail lights, he related the conversation with the officer to us and it was indeed to do with the reflector built into the tail light being covered and that they were no longer visable from a distance.

That was victoria, it also comes down to the officer at the time in some ways, at the end of the day though tail lights require an ADR, changing them in any way voids this and technically = an instant defect on a required saftey item.
