hi im just wondering what my first car will be??? VK commodore 4 speed manuel. VR 5 speed manuel. or VL 5 speed manuel with engine conversion to a vn or vp later on for future mods? i cant figure out wether to get a 5 speed or 4 speed. i would like to ask for your guys help please. im new to the forums so i hope to get to know you guys for future mods and help to : )
yeah, VR sounds the best
VL with a V6/5 speed conversion would go good. And it wouldn't be like 90% of the other VLs out there which are either turbo or N/A 3Ls

First car is very different to hobby car... If you had a daily, and wanted to drop an alloytec (Or f*** it, drop a stroked LS2 in) and 6spd in sure... But as a first car, go the VR. Keeping your car ON the road is priority #1 at this age.

while i enjoy my vl and would like to drop a manual gearbox in mine i would say get a vr 5speed less to go wrong and there arent many 5 speed vr's around and you will have less problems and save alot of fuel when comparing the 3 i would like to get 400kms out of a tank of petrol but i dont think thats possible in my car but my mate who has a vr get 2 weeks out of a tank of petrol and im jealous of that
VR. newest car = least likely to be a money pit.
Avoid modified cars as they have probably had a hard life. I dare say manuals are more likely to have been driven hard then autos, but if you're set on getting a manual you can't do much about that i guess.
Find a nice clean stock example with the lowest kilometers you can find. Test drive a whole lot of cars to get a good idea of how they should drive, don't just buy the first one you see, or the one that has the most fully sick wheels. You can add some go-faster bits later.
I would say a vk with 3.8 transplant and the all important manual 'box.
signature was inappropriate and has been removed.
u can never go past a vp ftw mine has chewed a few vr n vls
Toyota Corolla KE70.
Oh wait wrong forum. XD
My old Series 1 VN 5 speed V6 was great fun!
There's still quite a few VNs on the road these days too... Try and find something nice and tidy which looks like it's been looked after. A service history with receipts to prove it is also a good thing.
